Root Canals

They suck. I highly suggest that you do indeed visit your dentist every 6 months or as advised even if you've had bad experiences before, otherwise you'll need fillings or worse, a root canal.

The second picture on the page there is almost what my tooth looked like BEFORE the root canal was done. I had about 1/3 of my tooth gone due to a previous filling getting an infection on the bottom of it and it caused an air gap that weakened the bond between the filling and the tooth. This caused the filling to just fall off with a gap bigger than before.

Has anyone else here had the wonderful joy of having to experience a root canal?

I've had 4.

The first 2 were because of an accident I had in HS. The last 2 were because the dentist neglected to tell me that the filings were only temporary and 4 months down the road they had to be redone.

Best bet if you ever have to get this done is to make sure you bring your ipod so the sound of the grinding and tools isn't as bad!

The last time I went to the dentist I hadn't been in about 10 years. I think it's been 4 or 5 since then. Still no cavities, but I should probably work on that.

Never had a cavity. Almost had to have a root canal in middle school for knocking one of my front teeth loose during a soccer game, but fortunately my tooth healed itself.

Someone ran into me while I was midair catching a ball in the top right corner of the goal. The impact smashed me into the goalpost and my foot tangled in the side net on the way down. My face literally bit the dust.
