VM Everquest Server...Bring back the old days

Post by arkinia »

Recently Karby, Quadkite, Tynu, Orim, Raff and I have set up an emulated everquest server. The game has all the items, zones, bosses, and most quests up to at least PoP releases.

We are working on customizing the server to make it "fun" to play on:
-XP modifier is 5x
-Manastone, Jboots, Tink Bags, Bandages, Food/Drink are all available from PoK custom vendors
-All Illusion Masks are now All/All and can be bought in PoK
-Newbie Armor for starting is free in PoK
-Working on a Buff Bot, to give you buffs (at cost? Still TBD)
-Working on making all rare spawns spawn with the server, and decrease rare spawn time
-No Exp penalty on Death
-Working on Auto looting of cash
-A vendor in PoK will auto scribe all spells up to your level for you (no hunting down spells)
-All content (most) 5-mannable

We are highly open to any suggestions and improvements. We want to make it a fun server to mess around on, check out old zones, and have a good time. Stuff should be tuned towards 5 man groups as well.

In order to try it, you need full EQ Titanium:

Here are the instructions for install (Very easy):

The server is called Quellious 2008 and is available publicly. Let me or Erich know if you have any problems/suggestions/etc.

My movespeed is probably 20X... I could run across Greater Faydark in about 8 seconds. Zoning into GFay with no items wrenched back some pretty fond memories of when I first discovered this game called Everquest.

And make whatever! It's pretty easy. We're still working on making everything easy to use, so let us known on changes you'd suggest.

Nectulos forest seems to be broken. can't zone in or out of it. When you portal in from pok it takes you under the world. Also I think 5x exp is too much. I think 2x or 3x would be better. It lets you experience the content and not feel so rushed. Also if you do decide to keep it 5x there should be a way to max out your skills. Or skill gain should be much faster. Like my guy is level 6 and I have 3 conjuration and I've used the spell like 50x

I'm getting random regeneration right now playing on a warrior in W Freeport. both me and the mobs I'm fighting regen ~5% health every 10 seconds or so. The regen continues while out of combat, but if I sit down then the regen stops. Also, there were a couple times I noticed that Webin's HP had randomely gone down to 5%. Dunno why that was, there didn't seem to be a trigger for it or anything.

I have GM speed and we can't figure out why. It may have something to do with me running it on a Mac with windows installed through boot camp.
