The secret to beating ragnaros?

Post by Meldred »

Is this the key to beating ragnaros?

I just heard from a friend that an orange dropped for them in MC, so I did a little searching and found out some more info. It turns out quite a few have turned up in the past week. I'm guessing they enabled it last patch. If you look at allakhazam the drop rate is really low but you have to remember these were just added this patch so i'd say the percentages are much higher then what is listed.

When you get one of the oranges you take it to Highlord Demitrian in silithus and he gives you a quest to find both pieces. One dropps of Garr and the other is off Geddon.

I've been thinking about it and this quest could lead to a number of things. I'd say it either gives some item that will help with the ragnaros fight (kind of like the dragon vs rend), a nice legendary, or spawns Thunderaan. Maybe Thunderaan gives you the hammer needed to open silithus or you have to fight him I don't know.

I was thinking you will use the item and it will lower Ragnaros's power by some percent. If you read the text from Highlord Demitrian I beleive he says ragnaros tried absorbing thunderaan's power, but wasn't able to fully absorb him so he trapped him in a prisoned necklace and gave half to each of his generals. So it would only seem logical that if you free him ragnaros's power would diminish.

The quest NPC was disabled because he was giving out free legendaries. Could it be he was giving out the quest rewards?

I also found out that the original legendary necklace found a month or so ago was a mistake in the loot table and shouldn't have been able to drop.

The bindings info has been out for a while - it's unlikely it's necessary to directly beating Ragnaros because it was removed from the game. It's entirely possible this has to do with Ahn Qiraj content.

no, i distinctly remember a post in which blizzard stated that some item id numbers were mistaken and certain quest items and rings were changed to other items including some legendary quest peices. the rep said all items were being removed except the legendary peice.

The bindings were not removed from the game. The three screenshots I linked with the bindings were from tuesday and friday. The item that was removed was the legendary necklace, and some legendary the npc was giving out for free.
A quest bug in yesterday’s patch granted players access to an NPC who gave out legendary items. This NPC, and the majority of items he gave away, should not have been in-game. This bug has been fixed and the items, with the exception of the Bindings of the Windseeker, will be removed from player’s inventories.

I am confused; so did the Nurfed warrior who got the legendary necklace lose the item?

Some items overwrote each other, causing the legendary from the step after the 2 vessels to appear in place of another item in their inventories. I believe this item was removed from all who had it, as well as any items that they got by talking to the NPC.

To be honest, I don't see any item as being necessary to take down Ragnaros, maybe it helps? I dunno, but likely not necessary.

The 2 halves of the Talisman of Binding are both BoP and begin a quest. Classes: Warrior, Paladin, Hunter, Rogue I believe.

Supposedyl you get a 63 dps 1 handed sword from it but I haven't seen any pictures or anything of it so I'm calling bs.

'Sides, for every other Deus ex Machina item for a fight (Morbent Fel in Duskwood being a good example) there is ample warning prior to the actual fight that you need the item. For Rag there's no warning, it's only been "Wow! Orange!"

Ya, but consider the fact that those are all scrubs compaired to Ragnaros. Do you think bliz would just out and say, "Ok guys here is what you need to make Ragnaros managable..." It's the last shred of endgame they have until patch/expansion so my suppositon is that it's in their best interest to not tell us anything that would make it easier. I've a hunch this is just the kind of thing that they would thow at us for a boss fight of this calibur.
