A great follow-up to the first game, which was a great idea done poorly. This time around the combat system is quite a bit better, as is basically all the interaction the player does w/ the environment + NPCs. There are also some meaningless features that you can micromanage for fun (upgrading your little house, collecting paintings from vendors for no reason etc) but you can basically ignore them if you want. Also a good deal longer than the first game, with a much more engaging story-line. At the end it sorta goes nuts and makes no sense but they elude to the fact that questions will get answered in another sequel so w/e. Definitely worth a play through.

So no 2.5 hour backpeddling duels versus 18 guards every encounter?

There's actually still a little of that, but you can definitely mitigate it by actually being good at the game. As well, it seems that your counter moves are more likely to be killing blows when there are 10 guys vs when there are 3 guys, so you basically always end up actually fighting only a couple dudes for any length of time.

Nice. I was really hoping this game would be good. I loved the concept and feel of the original game, but I wanted to gouge my eyes out b/c the missions we so fucking repetitive. Oh look, a new city. Let me climb to the top of 14 towers to unlock the map, and then do the same 4 missions again and again. Awesome.

Can't wait for the PC version to come out so I can play it.

I think after the MGS:2 storyline, I'm immune.
