Dunno if you really know anything about CoD's but from everything I've heard, its pretty much just MW2.5

They got rid of almost all the bullshit from MW2 so it should be good

mw2 was the best of the series imo, blackops was total shit by comparison.

Most of the big people (pros/commentators) in CoD actually all say that Black ops was probably the best/most balanced!

I didn't play MW2 so i dont know but all ive ever heard is every single lobby is full of noob tubes, commando knives and a bunch of other random bullshit game mechanics that everyone exploits

mw2 did have a bunch of noobtoobing, but it wasn't any worse than the massive spawn grenades that blackops has.

Only unranked dedicated servers on PC means this is a no buy for me. Well, maybe when it goes on sale for $15~$20, but no way am I paying $60 to have to play in P2P online in order to be ranked.

im not too worried about the ranking etc. yah its cool to see a rank and where you stand but meh. id rather just unlock guns, get prestige and rape people. of course there were hackers already after the first few days but im used to that. i really like the kill confirmed scenario, gathering dog tags after kills or denying kills.

Stupid question: is there any difference in terms of damage or effective range for various guns of the same type? Or can I just pick the AR that I think looks the coolest and use it forever?

Yeah thats what the "Range" stat is on the gun, the lower the range, the less effective the bullets are at a longer range.

Most AR's have close to the same range anyways, or they are all effective enough to kill someone across the map
